Ronald D. Cannon, 84, of Chenango Bridge, died suddenly March 28, 2019 at his home. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Cannon, children; Terri Cannon-Pirozzi, Lori (Erick) Gaugler, Jeff (Patty) Pergl, Janet Pergl and Jill (Bill) Stackpole, his grandchildren; Kristoffer, Miranda, Ann, Ian, Rachel, Julie and 6 great-grandchildren. Ron was predeceased by his parents Maynard and Mildred Cannon and his sisters Norma Young and Joyce Cannon.

Ron served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Following his service he worked for Singer-Link and later he as manager in the hunging department at Dick’s Sporting Goods. He was a dedicated member of Eastern Light lodge 126 F&AM and a recipient of the Grand Lodge Dedicated Service Award.

He also belonged to the Q.B.’s. and was a member of the Chenango Bridge United Methodist Church. Ron enjoyed designing building custom models & flying model airplanes.

One of his most recognizable models is a scale detailed replica of Tom’s Texas Hots bus on Court Street. He built his own replica Jaguar S100 custom car, as well as collecting and restoring vintage cars along with his many woodworking projects. He served on the Assessment Board of Review for the Town of Chenango.

Most of all Ron was a gifted storyteller. He enjoyed sharing tales of both his real and imagined experiences in life. We invite family and friends to share their favorite stories on Ron’s online guestbook.

The family will greet friends at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home 483 Chenango Street, Binghamton, Sunday from 4-7 pm. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30. Funeral services will be 10am Monday at the Funeral Home.

Burial, with military honors, will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Masonic Brotherhood Fund.
