Obituary for Ronald Hoover Ronald Eugene Hoover, 59, of Tucson, passed away on July 18, 2018. He was born on November 4, 1958 to Fred and Lona Hoover in Greenwood, MS. Ron grew up in Chicago and at age 17 he joined the Marines for 10 years.

He spent his last year in the Marines as a drill instructor. After moving to Tucson he opened a karate school specifically serving low-income families in South Tucson. He later spent time as a corrections officer in the state prison in Florence and moved on to the juvenile detention center, Catalina Mountain for six years.

He left an enormous impact on the staff and youth at Catalina Mountain and led dozens into a relationship with Jesus. In 1997 he began his 14-year commitment to foster care that would eventually lead to the adoption of his four daughters. During that time his passion for pastoring began and he launched New Harvest Church in 1999.

His love for shepherding the hearts of those around him continued on to his last days. Ron always gave himself fully to everything he engaged in. You always knew when he walked into a room because his presence filled any space he was in.

He knew no stranger and made everyone his family. If he saw a need he wouldn’t turn away, instead, he rallied with those around him to help fill those needs. Ron knew the redeeming power of God’s love and freedom and wanted others to know it to the fullest.

Ron is survived by his sisters Theresa Robertson (Joe) and Renee Palmer. He is survived by his sons Shaun Hoover, Ronald Hoover Jr. (Sara), and Jason Hoover from his first marriage to Carmon Parton (James). Survived also by his children Ayla Hoover, Salem Hoover, Amanda Hoover, Savannah Hoover, and Christian Cochran along with his stepchildren John DeSoto (Angela) and Priscilla DeSoto from his marriage to Anita Hoover.

Ron loved spending time with his many grandchildren and step-grandchildren Taya, Norah, Kayd, Caiya, Selah, Stella, Julian, Nadia, Mason, Desmond, Nevaeh, Josephine, Elsiana, Olivia, and Ayanna. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Ron is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Lona, brother Fred Hoover, and sister Martha Davenport.

Funeral services will be held on July 27th, at 11am, at Victory Worship Center’s Copper Mountain campus, 2350 W. Tangerine Road. Reception will immediately follow at 3052 W. Camino Alto.
