Obituary for Elinor Simons SIMONS, Elinor born October 27, 1920, passed away peacefully September 11, 2018. Elinor lived a long and happy life; growing up in Mt. Carmel, PA she nevertheless found her own path with many adventures along the way.

She began by convincing her dad that she needed to go to another town to study nursing after high school. Elinor received her RN certification at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Reading, PA and went to New York City to practice her passion for nursing. She eventually joined the Women’s Army Corps and served as an army nurse in England during World War II.

She met the love of her life while overseas and married him there. From England to Texas and Louisiana; to Canada, Illinois, Connecticut and the Bahamas they embraced life and raised five children finally retiring in Tucson. Elinor played an active role in rearing her kids being sure they were all well-educated.

She was always active in her church and spent a number of years volunteering at Casa de los Ninos. She could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. She was the best mother, and role model ever; a truly selfless and giving person.

She left her children with the best sense of what it is to be a contributing member of the human race. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, C. S.
