OBITUARY Ronald Gabriel Pomante February 23, 1947 – December 3, 2018 Dr. Ronald Gabriel Pomante, M.D., 71, of Newtown Square, PA, died on December 3, 2018 after an extended illness. He passed away peacefully while lovingly surrounded by his family. Ronald was born in 1947 at Bryn Mawr Hospital and grew up in Devon, PA and attended Devon Elementary School, Tredyffrin-Easttown Middle School, and graduated from Conestoga High School in 1965.

He attended Villanova University where he graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1969 on a full academic scholarship. He attended Medical School at Creighton University in Omaha, NE and completed medical school in 1973 and residency for Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1976. He met the love of his life, Maureen, while in Omaha.

They married in 1972 and moved to Vineland, NJ in 1976 where he began his career as an OBGYN physician. Over Ron’s 36 year-long career, he delivered over 5,000 babies and was adored by his patients. He served on multiple medical committees, contributed to several journal articles regarding Obstetrics and Gynecology, and participated in the furthering of OBGYN education of residents in the clinical field and also as a professor and lecturer.

He was a proud Physician and was passionate about his work until his retirement in 2013. After 31 wonderful years in Vineland, Ron and Maureen moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He and Maureen loved traveling and more recently had visited Alaska, Croatia, Greece, Italy, France, Austria, Germany, and Hungary.

Ron also enjoyed many hobbies during his life including hunting in Maine with his friends, building and flying model remote control airplanes, gardening, woodworking, collecting rare coins, starting and co-running a large car show, wine and beer making, making stained glass, racing dragsters, and his absolute favorite hobby of collecting and driving vintage cars. He was a loyal Villanova and Philadelphia sports fan, and loved watching Eagles games on Sundays and going to The Vet to cheer on the Phillies. He and Maureen loved going to dinner frequently with their many wonderful friends.

He enjoyed spending his summers at their shore house in Sea Isle City, NJ and enjoyed time with his beautiful grandchildren. He will be missed and is loved by many. Ronald, aka Ron, Ronnie, “the Big Boy”, Dad, Pop-pop, son, brother, cousin, godfather, uncle and husband, is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maureen (nee Kavanaugh); his three daughters, Kristin (Rocco) D’Uva, Gina (Matthew) Genesio, and Angela (Timothy) Sipe; his eight grandchildren; his sister, Kathryn (Robert) Harclerode; two sister-in-law’s, three brother-in-law’s and 18 nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, December 10, at 11 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church: 35 Old Eagle School Road, Strafford, PA. Visitation will precede the Mass from 9:30 to 11 am downstairs in the Sacred Heart Chapel. Inurnment to follow at Our Lady of the Assumption Cemetery.
