Ronald L. Barto, Sr., 81, of Palmyra passed away Friday, March 15, 2019 at home. Born August 10, 1937 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Floyd and Florence (Kipp) Barto. He enjoyed being a greeter at Hersheypark after retiring from Hershey Foods.

A member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Ron was First Assistant Chief of Citizen’s Fire Company #1, Palmyra and had served with the Fire Police and Ambulance Crew. He had been in the Hershey Drum Corp, helped coordinate the Hershey Track and Field program, and loved fishing, Disney, the beach, and especially his wife. Surviving are his wife of 61 years Geraldine C. “Cookie” (Deitrich) Barto; children Ronald L. Barto, Jr. of South Annville, Sandy M. Walker of Palmyra, David G., Sr., husband of Anita L. Barto of Cleona; sister Martha; brother Earl; grandchildren Amber, wife of Allen Hake, Randy Snyder, Jr., and David Barto, Jr.; great grandsons Ethan Hake and Kwestin Barto.

A funeral service will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his church, 40 West Pine Street, Palmyra preceded by a viewing from 3:00 PM. Interment, with military honors, will be held 3:00 PM Friday, March 22, 2019 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 40 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 or Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
