Ronald’s Obituary Ronald T. “Winky” Mickinak, 77, of Latrobe, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at his home. Born April 5, 1941 in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Michael Mickinak and Anna E. (Peters) Mickinak. Prior to his retirement, Ronald had been employed by Latrobe Die Casting.

A veteran of the Vietnam Era, he served as a sergeant with the U.S. Army and was proud to be part of the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles”. He was an honorary member of the Lloydsville Sportsmen Association and a life member of the Lloydsville Fireman’s Club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He had also been a bass player for local bands and was instrumental in forming the Latrobe Midget Football program. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son. Ronald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anita L. (O’Barto) Mickinak of Latrobe; two sons, Ronald T. Mickinak Jr., and his wife Teresa, of Waukesha, WI, and Robert M. Mickinak, and his wife Pamela, of Latrobe; one daughter, Renee M. Free, and her husband Jay, of Ligonier; one brother, Michael W. Mickinak, and his wife Mary, of Medford, N.J.; one sister, Joann Bushyager of Scottdale; ten grandchildren, Alicia Sparks, and her husband Michael, Mark Mickinak, and his wife Natalie, Breanna Mickinak, Matthew Mickinak, Marlana Mickinak, Amanda Mickinak, Robert Mickinak Jr., Abbey Williams, Cory Mickinak, and his wife Jill, and Jerin Free; six great-grandchildren, Michael Jr., Addison, Molly, Amelia, Libby, and Dakota; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM Friday at the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. Military services will be conducted at 10:45 AM Saturday in the funeral home by the Latrobe Derry Veterans Honor Guard. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11 AM Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev.

Salvatore Lamendola officiating. Interment will be private. Sergeant Mickinak, your tour is complete!
