She attended school in Wilmington, North Carolina. In her early years, she moved to New York City, and met and married Willie Simon.

In that union eight children were born, three daughters, Barbara Simon Greene (Wyonne), Glenda Simon Joseph (Robert), and Vanessa Hines (Daniel); and five sons, Gregory Simon, Mark Simon, Willie Simon, Jr. (Greta), Eric Simon (Lorraine), and Michael Simon. Rosa Simon has: twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren; two special children, Timicka Bordeaux and Mark Simon, Jr. who were raised inside her home; one brother, Alvin Nixon (Margret) from Wilmington, NC; two sisters-in-law, Wilemina Nixon from Wilmington, NC, and Margie Bramlette from Wilmington, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. ROSE A woman, A mother, A friend hmm that’s deep.

Only GOD could create someone so sweet! From your womb we all descent, Barbara, Glenda, Greg, Vanessa, Mark, Willie, Eric and Mike. Then there’s Timicka, I have to smile for she too knows she’s your child.

We all love you dearly. Mama you never slated and you’ve never snarled. You’ve always let us know when we fell short but yet you never denied us support.

For clearly we know that times were hard. But you MOTHER, never failed in doing your part. You sheltered us from poverty, endurance you sustained.

We cannot ever give back what you have gave. Because you’ve taught us in GOD we must trust, I say to you and I speak for all of us, there is a GOD that waits for you in HEAVEN your WINGS will be there too. SO continue to keep your eyes on the sky in everything you do, be proud we’re blessed cause GOD gave us to you!
