Rosalie Emily Leonardi, of Arnold, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2018. Born March 24, 1921, to Pasquale “Charlie” and Rose Bianco Pellegrini, Rosalie lived her entire life in Arnold.

She graduated in 1939 from Arnold High School and then worked as the secretary to the Arnold Elementary principal. Rosalie and her husband, John Bosco Leonardi, were married Feb. 14, 1946, and had one son, John Andrew Leonardi.

Rosalie was active in many societies and volunteer organizations. She was a volunteer captain for more than 30 years, serving lunch to students at Mary Queen of Apostles School at the church location; in her earlier years she worked on committees for the annual fish fry and Festa Italiana projects at Mount St. Peter Church; she was a life member of the Addolaratta Society of the church, as well. Rosalie was the last surviving founding member of the Forward America Lodge in Arnold, and served as its first recording secretary for many years.

She was a trustee there as of her death, and she was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Lodge, Pittsburgh and the Columbiana Federation Lodge No. 23 in Arnold. Continuing her active life, Rosalie worked at the New Kensington-Aronld School District as an assistant for the Title I Reading Program in the Fourth Avenue school and H.D. Berkey buildings.

Rosalie loved to take walks and thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings. In addition to her parents, Rosalie was predeceased by her husband, who died in 1999; her brother, Louis Pellegrini, in 2004; and her only son, John Andrew Leonardi, who died Oct. 23, 2011.

She is survived by her beloved daughter-in-law, Sharon Rummell Leonardi; members of the Schaefers and Campana families; and her dear friends, Rudy and Audrey Gagliardi, Norma Marino, Terri and Roxann Davis and many others. She was especially grateful for the care provided by Joyce Ryan, Linda Mort and Brenda Brucker, and the Care at Home Agency. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, Arnold.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Everyone please meet at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carnegie Library for the Blind, Staisey Building, 4724 Baum Blvd. , Pittsburgh, PA 15213-1389 (she was grateful for the large print books they sent regularly), or to Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington, PA 15068.
