OBITUARY Rosalie Giammalva July 15, 1926 – November 2, 2018 Rosalie Giammalva passed away peacefully on Friday, the 2nd of November 2018, in Houston. Shewas 92 years of age. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Joseph Carlos Giammalva in 1981, with whom she owned the West Alabama Food Shop for 31 years.
She was born on the 15th of July 1926, in Houston, to Rosalie and Antonio Montalbano, all of Italian Heritage and Strong Catholic faith. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church for 68 years. She is survived by her five children, Marilyn Guerinot, Rosalie Bonura, Charles Giammalva, JoAnn Grisham her husband John, and Toni Pendleton and her husband Richard, all of Houston; her grandchildren, Timothy Guerinot and his wife Eide, Jonathan Guerinot, Caroline Pendleton, Kathryn Pendleton and Megan Rose Grisham; her great-grandchildren, Caeli Guerinot, Anica Guerinot, Emma Rosalie Guerinot and Audrey Guerinot.
She is also survived by her sister, Sadie Aquilina and her husband Anthony; and brother- in-law, Saverio Giammalva Jr. and his wife Sylvia; godchildren, Anthony Montalbano, John Garland, Marianne Giammalva, Renee Hammond and Victoria Minton Friends are cordially invited to a visitation from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 6th of November, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock. A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at half-past ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 7th of November, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road in Houston, celebrated by the Rev.
Dominic Pistone. Honored to serve as Pallbearers during the services are Timothy Guerinot, Jonathan Guerinot, Anthony Montalbano, Anthony Zarzana, Marion Aquilina and John Garland. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Fellowship Hall.
The Rite of Committal will follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that memorial contributions in memory of Rosalie Giammalva be directed to The Alzheimer’s Association, 6055 South Loop East, Houston, TX, 77087-1005.
