OBITUARY Rose Althea Landry February 5, 1935 – December 12, 2018 Rose Althea Jenschke Landry, born on Feb 5, 1935 in San Antonio was called to Heaven on Dec 12, 2018 at the age of 83. Rose was the third daughter of Nettie Lucille and Alfons Alfons Jenschke. She went to Ursuline Academy, then St Gerard High School, where she met, then married, the love of her life, Charles Collins “Charlie” Landry.
Rose worked for many years in the fine china department at Joske’s Windsor Park Mall, beginning at mall opening in 1976 and continued until her retirement. She enjoyed buying beautiful crystal and china pieces, using them daily and making sure her children shared that love of beautiful things. She liked to say that she never brought home a paycheck, just turned it back in to pick up her new items.
Rose and Charlie were active members of St John Neumann Catholic Church, serving as Eucharistic ministers for many years, then at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Their greatest treasures were their children and grandchildren, rarely missing any concerts, programs or games, no matter the sport and proudly wearing school attire. Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charlie, parents, 2 sisters and 3 grandsons, Christopher Landry, Seamus Mullins and Colby Lawson.
She is survived by her five children, Charles A. “Chuck” Landry (Becky), Duane Landry (Lisa), Luanne Sunday (Ray), Susan Mullins (Patrick) and Amy Coursey (Rob) and by her sister/best friend, Mary Lou Frazor (Don). She will be greatly missed by her 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, Caitlin Anderson, Blake and Jared Landry, Nick and Jonathan Sunday, Amanda, Brenden and Zachary Coursey, Shane Lawson, Marcie Landry, Sawyer Anderson, Grayson and Owen Landry, other special family and friends, as well as her beloved cat Kitty Baby, who enjoys nothing better than sitting in her lap watching Hallmark movies. Visitation will begin at 3:00 Sunday, Dec 15 with a rosary to follow at 4:00 at Sunset Funeral Home Austin Highway.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Dec 16 at 10:30 at St Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with committal service to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the loving staff of Franklin Park TPC Parkway and Encompass Hospice.
