Rose M. (Barbaro) Scappe, of Coraopolis, passed on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at the age of 88. She was born on October 18, 1929, in McKees Rocks, PA to her parents, the late Frank and Minnie Barbaro. Rose was the beloved wife of the late Edward “Gigi” Scappe.

She was the loving mother of her son Mark Scappe (Cindy Rebeck), and her daughter, the late Joanne Scappe. Rose was the proud grandmother of Vincent (Christine) Scappe and Anthony (Francesca) Scappe and great-grandmother of Vincenzo Scappe. She was the sister of Antonette (Steve) Novalk, Carman (Judy) Barbaro, Frank (the late Phyllis) Barbaro, Joseph (Denise) Barbaro, and the late Ange Barbaro and Dominic (Sue) Barbaro.

Rose was a lifetime resident of Coraopolis and a member of St Joseph Catholic Church. She was a Coraopolis School Crossing Guard for 52 years, a Democratic Committee -woman for over 50 years, a constable for 40 years, and a St Joseph Church Christian Mother. Rose was very involved with the St Joseph Church Festival where she was the chairwoman of the “Big Bucks Bonanza” and with many other church activities.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday and Sunday, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 Fourth Ave, Coraopolis, PA 15108. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday in the funeral home at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St Joseph Church. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Moon Township immediately after the Mass.
