Rose Marie Keener age 87 passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Brian Center in Weaverville. She was a native of Hempstead, New York, but was a longtime resident of Buncombe County. She was born to the late Joe and Ethel Kerrigan and was the wife of the late Richard R. Keener who passed away in August 2010.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sheila Keener. She was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church. In her younger years she volunteered at Family Services helping the youth here locally.

She is survived by her daughter, Dottie Demick and her husband, Rev. Scott Demick, of Alexander, her grandchildren, Rev. Randy Keener of Alexander, Justin Keener of Resaca, GA, and Matthew Demick of Alexander, and her two great-grandchildren, Aliyah Keener and Haddon Keener, her brother, Joe Kerrigan Jr. of Sarasota, FL; and her beloved pet dog, “Little Man”.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home in Swannanoa. Rev. Scott Demick, Rev.

Randy Keener, Rev. Tony Shirley, and Matthew Demick will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, September 10, 2018 at Penland Family Funeral Home from 6:00 – 7:30 PM.
