Rose Theresa (Rubino) Jackson passed away on July 1 in Holyoke, MA at the age of 87 years. Rose was born in Utica, NY on November 17, 1930 to the late John and Pasqua Rubino. Rose attended school and resided in Utica, NY where she met her husband, Ralph to whom she was married 61 years.
By 1965, she had four children and the family moved to Huntsville, AL where a fifth child joined their lives. In 1974, the Jackson’s moved to Pittsfield, MA. In all those years, Rose made a happy life for her family.
She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church in Pittsfield. A final move to Holyoke, MA was made in 2013. She worked for General Electric in radio receiving while in Utica, NY and then enjoyed a great career where she made many friends at Berkshire Place in Pittsfield, MA from 1975 until she retired in 1994.
In retirement, she and her husband, Ralph, spent their winters in Ormond Beach, FL. Rose enjoyed cooking (Saturday was homemade pizza night), dancing (former Arthur Murray dance instructor), playing cards (she always had the aces! ) and crocheting.
Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, they gave her so much joy. Rose is survived by her husband, Ralph Ira Jackson of Holyoke MA whom she married on October 6, 1956 in Utica, NY; two sisters; Flora De Fazio of Utica, NY and Jo Lucy Zakala of Rome, NY; son Dan Jackson and husband Ken Salvas of Port Orange, FL; daughter Rose Knapik and husband Joe of Holyoke, MA; son John Jackson and wife Kristen of Pittsfield, MA; daughter Joyce Sammons and husband Tom of Pittsfield, MA; daughter Sheri Branco and husband Mark of N. Chelmsford, MA. Rose also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren; Nathanael Jackson, Alexandria Couper and husband Jon, Jessica Sammons, Christian Sammons, Hanna Branco, Benjamin Branco, as well as many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and happiness in the hearts of all who met her.
Rose is predeceased by her sisters Mary and Jenny Rubino and brother Samuel Rubino. The family would like to thank the staff at Loomis House Retirement Community in Holyoke and Mercy Life PACE Program in West Springfield. Special thanks are extended to the Holyoke Medical Center, New England Hospice and the Holyoke Healthcare Center for the excellent care they provided for our Mom in the last 6 months.
