Obituary for Roy Dean Mason Roy Dean Mason, 76, of Kingman, IN (formerly of Manteno, IL), passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 peacefully at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care/ Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. Roy was born April 28, 1942, in Elgin, IL, the son of Lowell and Geneva Mason. He was the beloved husband of Linda Kay (Nease) Mason, married on December 1, 1963 Olney, IL.

She survives. Also surviving are one daughter and two sons. Kevin (Jennifer) Mason of Kingman, IN, Jennifer (Donald) Goad of Manteno, IL, and Aaron (Lisa) Mason of Cashton, WI .

He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Brent (Lauren) Mason, Ashlee (Drew) Schaafsma, Patrick (Jessica) Webb, Devin (Ashley) Goad, Trent Goad, Marissa Goad, Cassidy Mason, Austin Mason, and Taylor Mason, and 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Also surviving are his mother, Geneva Mason, five sisters, one brother, two sisters-in-law, and six brothers-in-law: Ann (Bob) Reiser, Carol Bunting, Lora (Larry) Bemont, Anita (Bill) Caufield, Ellen (Roger) Bastian, Jesse (Tina) Mason, Patti (Tony) Martin, and Janet (Randy) Rowe. He was preceded in death by his father Lowell Mason, father/mother-in-law, Ralph and Phyllis Nease, and 2 grandsons, Mitch Goad and Brandon Mason.

Roy attended school at East Richland County High School, Olney, IL, graduating in 1960. He then studied architecture for 2 years at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He went on to work in construction for several years, eventually starting his own business, A-1 Mantels.

He took great pride in every piece he built. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to their dream home on Lake Holiday-Hideaway in Kingman, IN. He enjoyed fishing, boating, long conversations, and gatherings with family/friends.

His most cherished possession though, was his family. Services will be held Friday, November 9, 2018, at Brown’s Funeral Home, Manteno, IL from 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family per their wishes.
