ROY EDWARD KNOTT age 86, of 623 Providence Road, Roxboro, NC died Thursday morning, December 6, 2018 at Duke University Hospital. Mr. Knott was born March 30, 1932 in Person County, NC son of the late Charlie Henry & Lona Bohanon Knott and was husband of 68 years to Carol McLean Solomon Knott who survives. He was retired from Eaton Corp.

, formerly worked as an officer of the Roxboro Police Department, was a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Roy was very proud of his time spent serving his country and his city. He enjoyed striper fishing at Bugs Island and gardening.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Douglas Edward Knott & wife, Angie of Roxboro, NC, granddaughter, Amanda Carol Knott, three great grandchildren, Natalie Brook Wood, Aubrey Wood, and Haleigh Wood. In addition to his parents, Mr. Knott is preceded in death by a grandson, Donald Edward Knott, two brothers, James Earl “Bunky” Knott, and Bobby Dean Knott. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev.

Ben Durand officiating. Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
