OBITUARY Ruby L (Masters) Wymer August 31, 1925 – August 16, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Wymer, Ruby Louise (Masters), 92, born Aug 31, 1925 in Farlinville, KS died in Wichita, KS on Aug 16, 2018. Ruby was the 5th of 12 children born to Grover and Leda (Baston) Masters. Ruby grew up near Mound City, KS and attended the local school and high school.

After high school she moved to Wichita where she began working at a doctor’s office doing bookwork. Then she worked at Beech Aircraft until World War II was over. At a local dance she met her future husband, Vernon Wymer.

They married on June 14, 1946 and a year later had their only child, Ron. Ruby later attended Wichita School of Cosmetology and became a licensed beautician and opened her own shop in the basement of their home. She retired in the mid 1990’s.

Ruby was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to garden and was a very good cook. Family was very important to her and she enjoyed family get-togethers and the yearly Masters family reunions.

Ruby and Vernon enjoyed traveling and they often took trips with various friends and relatives. They were long-time members of Epworth United Methodist Church. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; brothers, Clayton, Roy, Cecil, and Glen Masters; sisters, Vera O’Rourke, Arlene Bryant, Donna Dedrick and Carolyn Marshall.

Survivors include her son, Ron (Telitha) Wymer; grandchildren, Andrea Dorpinghaus, Dr. Travis (Amanda) Wymer, and Courtney (Michael) Hollingshead; great-grandchildren, Brittney (Tod) Felix, Kaiser, Lyla, Nora Wymer, and Roarke Hollingshead; brothers, Hershel, John, and LD Masters; and many nieces and nephews that were near and dear to her heart. Services will be held at 11am Friday, August 24, 2018 at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita, KS 67206. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market St., Wichita, KS 67202 or the Wichita Police Department K-9 Unit, checks payable to the Wichita Police Foundation, PO Box 782736, Wichita, KS 67278, ensure to put K-9 Unit in the “notes” section on checks.
