She was a native and resident of Plaquemine. Ruby was a retired supervisor from the Department of Family Services.

Per her wishes, Ruby was cremated. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Griffin J. Bourgeois, Sr. of Plaquemine; two sons, Griffin Bourgeois Jr. and Mark Bourgeois; sister, Shirley Faye Watson Smith; granddaughter, Zoe Bourgeois. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Alberta Gascon Bourgeois; daughter, Danielle Bourgeois.
