OBITUARY Ruby S. George November 20, 1923 – September 27, 2018 Ruby S. George, age 94, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018. She was born November 20, 1923 in Webb, Mississippi to Lena and Daniel Savage. Ruby is survived by her daughter Teri Bradford; her sons Raymond (Connie) George, Samuel (Dian) George, Clarence (Hermie) George, and Clayton (Jennifer) George; her sister Jewel Dean Whitaker; her grandchildren Breanna Bradford (Ryan) Dennis, Michael Ray (Patti) George, Matthew (Meredith) George, Bryan George, Brittany George, Cassie George, Amanda (John) Kirby, Andrea George, and Amy Hurley; several great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father Daniel Wick Savage, her mother Lena Lector Savage Hunt, and her step-father who raised her, Weston Hunt; her husband Raymond George Sr.; and her siblings Lovie Taylor, W.D. Savage, Albert Savage, Lucille Savage Beach, Richard Savage, Daniel Savage, and Bernice Schaefer. Ruby was a beloved mother, “Nana”, sister, mother-in-law, and friend. She was known for being sweet, kind-hearted, selfless, and easy going.

Ruby always put her family first before all else. She was an incredible cook and loved to prepare meals for her family, especially Thanksgiving dinner. Ruby was also a gifted seamstress and enjoyed putting together puzzles and doing puzzle books.

In her younger days, Ruby loved to fish (but often got stuck cleaning all the fish…). She was a long time resident of Birmingham and enjoyed attending church whenever able. Ruby lived a long, fulfilling life and will be deeply missed but never forgotten by those who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Ruby will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, Alabama. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial at Forest Crest Cemetery, Irondale, Alabama.
