Melvin World War II Veteran, Russell Lloyd Melvin, 97, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 19, 2018. He was born on October 30, 1920 to Lloyd and Eunice (Siniff) Melvin at Jackson Twp. , Pickaway County, Ohio.

Russ was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Vera (Beatty) Melvin, 1 granddaughter, 2 grandsons, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. He is survived by a sister, Joann O’conner, Grove City; son, Dick (Pat) Melvin, Galloway ; daughter, Kim (Ken) Roese, Ashville; grandsons, Ken (Jody) Roese Jr., Todd (Elyssa) Melvin and Brent Roese; step grandsons, Jimmy and Tony McCoy. 7 great grandchildren, Jamie Edmonds, Stephanie Lochbieler, Aubrey Roese, Kaylin Roese, Hallie Roese, Jessee Melvin, Ian Roese ; 7 great great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Junior Beatty; several nieces and nephews.

Russ was a member of the Scioto Chapel Church and Rick Brown Memorial VFW Post 7941. Russ enjoyed woodworking, fishing and going to the great grandchildren’s sporting activities and just relaxing on the porch swing. There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside service with Military Honors by AMVETS Post 2256, will be held a 11:30 AM Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Concord Cemetery, 6244 Hover Rd. , Grove City, Ohio In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heartland Hospice, 116 Morris Rd. Suite C, Circleville, Ohio 43113.
