Ruth A. Nettum, 91, of West Bend, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Cedar Bay West in West Bend. Ruth was born on September 16, 1927, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of the late Henry and Erma (nee Henke) Schilling. On June 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to Stanley Nettum in Watertown.

Stanley preceded Ruth in death on July 27, 2008. Ruth grew up in Watertown, WI graduating from Watertown High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at various times in her life along with doing volunteer work at church.

After marriage, she resided in Madison, Brookfield and Menomonee Falls. In retirement, Ruth and Stan moved to Cedar Communities and became active in volunteering there. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing the piano and doing puzzles.

She enjoyed knitting, making something for every grandchild and great-grandchild. Those Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory include her three children, Richard (Cindy) Nettum, Linda Gatlin, Diana (Paul) Beder; nine grandchildren, Laura (Jason) Krueger, Amy Weber, John (Seni) Weber, Heather Gatlin, Anthony (Janet) Gatlin, Jason (Katie) Gatlin, Robyn (Jeff) Schwark, Kellie (Matt) Ritzema, Nicolina Beder; 18 great-grandchildren, Augie and Callie Krueger, Sydney and Shea Weber, Sophia, Manny, Nadia, and Mia Weber, Jack, Elizabeth, and Audrey Gatlin, Madison, Eli, and Reese Schwark, Alex and Lindsey Ritzema, Colten and Aiden Hawkinson; a sister-in-law, Helen (Rich) Radloff; other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Bruce Roznik and Thomas Gatlin; a brother, Gene (Ila) Schilling; a brother-in-law, Jerome Nettum; a sister-in-law, Grace (Ray Jr.) Thompson; and her parents-in-law, Oliver and Martha Nettum.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 2, 2018, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 4860 Arthur Rd. , Slinger, WI. Colleen Mas will officiate and inurnment will be held at a later date at Washington County Memorial Park.

Ruth’s family will greet relatives and friends on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service. The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Bay West for their compassionate care during her last weeks. If desired, memorial gifts to Cedar Communities or St. Luke Lutheran Church, Slinger appreciated.
