RUTH M. MCMENAMIN January 08, 1929 – December 22, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book Ruth Marie McMenamin passed away on December 22, 2018. She was born January 8, 1929 in West Union IA. Her family moved to DeKalb in 1941 and she was a graduate of DeKalb Township High School in 1946.

She worked at the Brody Mfg. Co. for many years and spent time as an operator for DeKalb Ogle Telephone Co She married Rodney W. Clark in 1949.

She later married E. Ross McMenamin, USN and spent time on a naval base in the Aleutian Islands and Washington State. When her husband retired, they moved to Yuma, Arizona. In 1996 they moved back to DeKalb where they both had family.

She was involved in many volunteer activities throughout her life and was a 20+ year member of St. Mary’s Church in Sycamore. She had many hobbies and activities that kept her busy. She is survived by two sons, Rodney W. Clark Jr. of Mountain Home, AR and Ralph L. (Kimberly) McMenamin of Beebe, AR; two sisters, Dorothy Adams of Pryor, OK and Gladys Kehl of Mount Carrol, IL; two brothers, Robert (Arlene) Ewing of Cortland, IL and Cecil Ewing of Athens, TN; sister-in law, Sally Peterson; Three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Clarence and Vira (Voshell) Ewing; her husband, E. Ross McMenamin; sister-in-law, Rosemary McMenamin; oldest son, Ross E. Clark; daughter-in-law, Mary S. (Pearson) Clark; three grandchildren, Byron (BJ), Edward and Heather Clark. The Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28 at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb with the Rev. Dr. Noah R. Panlilio of Malta Methodist Church officiating.

Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Ruth M. McMenamin Memorial Fund, addressed to the McMenamin Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
