Ruth Miles July 03, 1931 – March 02, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Ruth Lorraine (Detmer) Miles, age 87, of Knob Noster, MO died Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Research Medical Center after a brief illness. Ruth was born July 3, 1931 in Worthing, SD the daughter of John and Bertha (Kluin) Detmer. She was a homemaker, military wife, machinist for Rival Manufacturing, a mess attendant at Ozarks Inn/Touch n’ Go at WAFB, MO and a member of Knob Noster VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She cherished her friends, her family, and her grandchildren. She loved and cared for all of God’s creatures, especially her dog Pepper, cats Garfield, Blackie and Little Bit. She enjoyed feeding birds, squirrels, and deer in her yard and tending to her flowerbeds.

She also enjoyed decorating for her favorite holiday, Christmas, and singing Christmas carols. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Miles; her parents John and Bertha Detmer; sister Frances Powers; brother Gerald Detmer; and niece Linda Nichols. Survivors include her three children, Sandra (fiancé David) Tingley of Portland, OR, Michael (Theresa) Miles of Timnath, CO, and daughter Nancy Miles (Bryon) Burden of Warrensburg, MO.

Six grandchildren; Robert Tingley, Christina (Sarah) Tingley, Haley Miles, Kelly Miles, Joshua (Jarryssa) Ellis, and Stephen Klee. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Alex Fenske, Matthew Fenske, Jason (Kayla) Burden, and Austin (Trish) Burden. Great-Grandchildren include Austin Lisle, Gavin Ellis, Laurali Hubbard, Aubree Lynn Burden and Hennessey Burden, Kelton Paul, Emmett.

She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Dietterle of Sun City, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of life-long friends. Services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the Knob Noster VFW. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 7 from 5-7 PM at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, MO and then again on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 10AM at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home in Lennox, SD.

Burial will follow at St. Edwards Cemetery in Worthing, SD. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Johnson County Cancer Foundation and can be left in care of the funeral home.
