Sadie K. Yoder, 91, of Mattawana, formerly of Penns Creek, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, May 5, 2019, in Mattawana. She was born October 4, 1927 in Lancaster County, a daughter of the late David and Mary (Kauffman) Smoker. On December 2, 1950, she married Norman D. Yoder, who preceded her in death.

Sadie and Norman lived on a dairy farm in Penns Creek for most of their married life. Norman was a minister at Millmont Mennonite Church, and Sadie was a faithful minister’s wife. For the past 8 ½ years, she lived in Mattawana, Mifflin County, with Daryl and Sarah.

Her right hand was crippled from birth, but that did not stop Sadie from sewing, gardening, canning, cooking, and all the countless duties required to raise a family. She was a blessing to those who knew her, and many will miss her sweet smile and spunky spirit. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, N. Daryl and Sarah Yoder of Mattawana, Veryl E. Yoder of Lancaster, and Wayne L. and Lillian Yoder of Winfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary L. and David Groff, Carol S. and Randy Tice, and Joy E. and James Weaver, all of Lewisburg; 24 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; one brother, Sylvan Smoker of Quarryville, and two sisters, Martha Stoltzfus of Jackson, Kentucky, and Ferne Bowman of Harrisonburg, Virginia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Glen Eldon; one brother, Abner Smoker; and one sister, Esther Chupp. Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, and 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, at the Millmont Mennonite Church, 1250 Millmont Rd. , Millmont, where the service will be held at 11 a.m., with officiating ministers David Swartzentruber, Lewis Hoover, and Daryl Yoder.

Burial will be in the Millmont Mennonite Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd. , Mifflinburg.
