Silvis, 96 died Tuesday January 15, 2019 at his home. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Sal moved to Ringoes in 1983. He graduated from Brooklyn Poly Technical School with a Doctorates degree in Chemical Engineering.

For many years he was employed by Colgate Palmolive Incorporated as a chemical engineer in a research and development capacity and was instrumental in opening numerous plants around the world for them. Son of the late Giordano and Carmelina Terra Silvis, he is survived by his wife of 45 years Margot Leonhardt Silvis, two sons George Silvis, Gregory Silvis, two daughters Melinda Dante and Maya Silvis, six grandchildren Michelle, Nicole, Richard, Helene, Gabriella, Olivia and one great grandson Peter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday January 19 at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church.

There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
