Sally D. McDermott, age 65 of Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at UW-Hospital in Madison, WI surrounded by her family. She was born March 25, 1953 in Darlington the daughter of Walter “Billy” and Betty (Olson) McGranahan. Sally attended Darlington High School and later went on to receive her associate’s degree from Southwest Technical College in Fennimore, WI and became an LPN.

Sally was born and raised in Darlington where she and Mike proudly raised their family. While she was growing up Sally loved working at her grandmother’s coffee shop, Mac’s Café in Darlington.
She was a nurse at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City, WI for 28 years and dedicated her time to helping Mike with the family business, Backyard LTD. Sally is survived by her husband Mike at home; three children: Dawn (Tim) Wiegel and Ted (Angie) McDermott both of Darlington and Allen (Kris) McDermott of Verona, WI; her beloved grandchildren: Storm (Daisy Cunzenheim) Wiegel, Walker (Molly McDaniel) Wiegel, and Quade Wiegel all of Darlington, Kadin and Cole McDermott of Verona, Gracey, Layla, Kane, and Ade May McDermott all of Darlington; and two sisters: Pat Stauffacher and Kristi Glanzman both of Darlington; mother-in-law: Helen McDermott of Dodgeville. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Nanci Ostby; one brother; Larry McGranahan; father-in-law: Robert“Bob” McDermott two brothers-in-law: Sam Glanzman and Thomas Stauffacher; sister-in-law: Theresa Conrad, a niece: Penny Niles; and two nephews: Mark Stauffacher and Billy McGranahan.
Sally was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. She was proud to serve as an EMT for over 30 years, was a Girl Scout Leader, and was a founding member of both the Darlington Fire Department Auxiliary and Lafayette County Relay for Life. Sally cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and the memories they created together.
She loved to attend their sporting events and other school activities throughout the years. Sally was well known in the community by both the older and younger generation as she babysat for many Darlington families throughout the years. She loved to travel all around the world with Mike taking in all the beautiful scenery the world has to offer.
Sally and Mike always enjoyed a good night at the Casino gambling and having fun. She had many friends and she always looked forward to her coffee with them at McDonalds. Sally was a loving wife, patient and understanding mother, a supportive and compassionate grandmother, and a giving and caring friend that will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by so many.
A Time of Family Remembrance will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church a branch of Our Lady of Fatima Parish (104 E. Harriet St, Darlington) with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
A visitation will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.
