Sally R. Box, 81, of Burlington, died at 9:51 PM Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport. Born March 30, 1938, in Burlington, she was the daughter of George A. and Dorothy M. Dreher Lewis. On June 13, 1959, she married Edward J. Box in Burlington.

Sally was a homemaker while her children were young. She later became a tax repairer for H&R Block until her retirement in 2015. She was a 1956 graduate of Burlington High School Sally was a member of Divine Mercy Parish.

She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and bowling league. She loved to play bridge and go golfing. She was a member of the Flint Hills Golf League and served on the Golf Advisory Board.

Most of all, Sally enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Edward of Burlington; two sons, Michael J. (Marilyn) Box of Burlington, and Mark E. (Susan) Box of Ft. Collins, CO; one daughter, Mindy K (Glenn) Spiker of Burlington; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two on the way; one sister, Patrica Freidman of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one Special Aunt, Marcella “Me” Norling, one daughter, Michele R. Garrett, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Box will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir.

Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the fellowship hall of St. Paul’s Catholic Church following the burial. Memorials have been established for Burlington Notre Dame and St. Vincent de Paul Society.
