Salvatore “Sam” Paradiso, 80, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 1, 2019 at his home. He was born on September 15, 1938, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Salvatore and Maria (Cercelli) Paradiso. On May 18, 1968, in St. Mary Catholic Church, he married Rachel Bowyer.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rachel Paradiso of Tiffin; daughter, Jennifer Paradiso of Tiffin; sons, Mike (fiancée, Jen Kistler) Paradiso of Findlay and John Paradiso of Tiffin; sister, Gilda “Gigi” (John) Sczesny of Fostoria; and grandchildren, Skylar, Dominic, Sofia and Gabe. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tony Paradiso, Joe Paradiso and Dan Paradiso and an infant brother, Guiseppe; sisters, Mary Paradiso, Philomena “Tommy” Mathias, Michaelina Paulus, Sara Ambrose and Carmie Cervantes; and an infant sister, Assunta. Sam graduated in 1957 from Tiffin Calvert High School and served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1968.

He worked at GE for 25 years and retired from Webster in 2003. Sam was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he was a former usher and was an active, proud member of the 29th Division Association, D-Day 1944, for his brother who was killed in WWII. Sam was an OSU and Cleveland Indians fan, enjoyed golfing in many golf leagues at local courses, cutting and splitting wood with his neighbor, being outdoors, playing games and loved spending time with his family.

His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to a local Salvation Army.
