Obituary for Samuel Dunn Samuel C. Dunn, age 84, passed away January 2, 2019 in Asheville, North Carolina surrounded by his children. He graduated from Franklin High School and married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Ann (Mallicoat) Dunn. Sam was an active member of the Franklin community.

He attended the First Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon. Sam served on Franklin City Council and held one term as Mayor. Later, the family moved to northern Cincinnati.

Sam was known for his enthusiasm for life and his hard work. He began his 45-year career at Armco Steel as a crane operator. He worked his way up through Armco/AK Steel in various maintenance and management positions.

His last position was as head of 2 maintenance departments. He managed 175 mechanics and was responsible for 9,400 pieces of motive equipment. His numerous part-time jobs included: custom auto body work, maintaining a small farm, owner/operator of a laundromat and forklift operator safety training.

Sam liked to say he “worked hard and played hard”. He was an avid golfer and talented woodworker. Many summers were spent boating and water skiing with family.

The couple also enjoyed travelling. It was during their travels that they found Cashiers, North Carolina, a golf community in the mountains. Marjorie and Sam retired to Cashiers where they spent many active years.

Samuel Dunn is survived by his wife, Marjorie, his three children, Amy, Joni and Brian Dunn, and his brother, Paul Dunn. The couple was proud to have seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
