Chiodo, Samuel J. Age 78, of Carnegie, Pa. , formerly of Mt. Lebanon, Pa.

, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 9, 2018, following weeks of loving care by his family. Beloved husband of Charmin Campbell Chiodo; proud father of Carrie Vanistendael (Mark), Gina DeCola Bottone (David), Julie Vuillemot (Jay), Adele Beaves (Scott), and Emily Chiodo (Brent Wasko); grandfather of Eric and Olivia Vanistendael, Salvatore DeCola, Ryan, Leah and John Vuillemot, Travis, Lena and Ellie Beaves, and Desmond Wasko; brother of Marie Bellin (William); uncle of Elaine Bellin (Phyllis Coontz); also survived by two aunts and Sam’s first wife Kathie Ortolf Horn (mother of Carrie, Gina and Julie); preceded in death by parents John and Antonietta Bonanno Chiodo and nephew Joseph A. Bellin. Sam (“Sonny” to his family) was an entrepreneur, business owner, highly successful salesman and true Pittsburgh native who loved cooking (especially soup), singing, the arts, the Pirates, gardening, old movies, and early jazz.

Graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School Class of 1958; U.S. Army veteran; Honorary Lifetime Member of The Pittsburgh Savoyards; Owner of The Village Bakery, ComSolve, Inc., and Sam & Tony’s Café; known as “The Hat” to fellow car salesman at #1 Cochran (selling cars was “the most fun job he ever had”); and active in the Cloverleaf Estates West community. Friends received at the Bagnato Funeral Home, Jefferson St. Carnegie, Wed.

& Thurs. 4-8 PM. Funeral mass at Marian Manor Chapel in Green Tree, Friday 10 AM.

Private interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, “Memorial” gifts to The Carnegie Carnegie can be mailed directly to ACFL&MH 300 Beechwood Blvd. , Carnegie, PA 15106.
