Samuel’s Obituary Samuel Joseph Giardono 1938 – 2019 Samuel Joseph Giardono, “Sammy Joe”, of Rockford, IL departed this earthly life April 6, 2019, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rockford, IL, on February 27, 1938, to Frank J. Giardono and Nancy M. (Gullotta) Giardono. He graduated from West High School in Rockford, IL.

Sam served his country in the United States Army at Fort Sill based in Oklahoma. Sam received the Sharpshooter and Good Conduct medals. He was employed at Rockford Blacktop and later retired as the Business Agent for Teamsters Local 325.

He served on the Board of Directors for the Construction Industry Welfare Fund for 40 plus years prior to retiring. In his free time, Sam loved bass fishing, trap shooting, and playing cards. The only thing rivaling his enjoyment of waxing his car and boat was spending time with friends, family, and his pets.

He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend; he will remain in our hearts forever. He is survived by his five children; Samuel (Shelly) Giardono, Anita Giardono, Marcy (Ubaldo) Macias, Jeff Parrott, and Kathy (Richard) Zander, six grandchildren; Joseph Miranda, Samuel Giordano, Lukki Giardono, Alyssa Giardono, Erin Giardono and Tina Macias, three great-grandchildren; Samuel, Layla, and Kai, sister; Anita (Pete) Nanni, former wife; Frances P. Booker, and a host of other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Frank C. Giardono.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Independence Village, All Life Solutions and their complete staff, as well as Agrace Hospice Care for their exceptional care and support. A special thank you to Samuel D. Giardono for taking on the biggest responsibility and making the best decisions for our loved one. Visitation will be at Gasparini & Oliveri Funeral Home, 707 Marchesano Dr., Rockford, IL, 61102, on Friday, April 12, 2019, from 5-7pm.

Funeral mass will be held at 10AM on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Church 1010 Ferguson St., Rockford, IL, 61102.
