Sandra May Betts, 76, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on June 13, 2018 at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay. She was born May 13, 1942 in Sheboygan to Lawrence and Ruth (Clarenbach) Schuessler. On May 15, 1971, she married Alan Betts.

He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2015. Sandy was small in stature, but extremely strong in will and loved to experience new things.

In her youth, she owned a horse name Sammy and took his saddle with her on the bus. She rented a Thunderbird for a day of adventure and even made a parachute jump. She owned two German Shepard’s named Grindel and Ginger.

She had bleached hair, black hair, orange hair and once even green hair. Sandy was married 44 years to her sweetheart Alan. They enjoyed many hobbies: RV camping, snowmobiling, motorcycling, boating, and simply being together.

They especially loved Colorado and retired to Door County after 30 years of being small business owners. Survivors include her daughter Dawn (Darren) Marsh, Stoughton, WI; 2 grandchildren Bryce and Casey; sister Laura (Glen) Mateljan, brother Billy Schuessler, one nephew James Snifka. She was preceded in death by her husband, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on June 23, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Special thanks to Door County Medical Center staff, including: Stacie, Mary, John, Rachel, Jamie, Katrina, Devin, Dr. Palines, Katy and Sister Monica. Also, a heartfelt thank you to her special friends, Nancy, Judy and Pastor Gomez.
