Obituary for Sandra Elizabeth Dieckhoff (Johnson) Sandra Elizabeth Johnson, 79, of Oconomowoc, passed into eternity on November 3rd, 2018, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc. Sandra was born in Poynette, Wisconsin on June 12, 1939 to Maurice and Clara (Knuteson) Johnson at the Poynette Hospital. She grew up on a farm near Lake Wisconsin and attended a one room school with her mother being the teacher during her second grade year.

Sandra was a graduate of Poynette High School and graduated from a two year course from Columbia County Teachers College. She taught third and fourth grade for four years at Marcellon School in the Pardeeville School District. Sandra continued her education through summer school programs and earned an elementary education degree from UW Platteville.

She taught second grade at Summit School in Oconomowoc for 11 years and then was a stay-at-home mom to her sons, Darin and Brett. In the early 90’s, Sandra received training as a certified nursing assistant so she went from working with young children to caring for the elderly. She was employed at Oconomowoc Hospital’s Adult Care Center, a job she really enjoyed.

Sandra retired in 2008. Shortly after her retirement, she married Richard Dieckhoff, whom she had met over 50 years ago while in college. They spent 10 happy years together.

Sandra loved animals, especially cats, and always had a friendly cat in her home. She enjoyed reading, gardening, bike riding, and long “brisk” walks. Her faith in God and His promises are what sustained her over the years.

Her friends in Truth are deeply appreciated for their love and support. Sandra is survived by her sons, Darin Giese of Oconomowoc and Brett Giese of Watertown; their father Walter (Shirley) Giese of Greenfield; brothers -in-law Dean (Mary) Duddeck of Beloit and LeRoy (Betty) Dieckhoff of Babcock; 12 nieces and nephews; 9 cousins; and many other family members and friends. Preceding Sandra in death were her parents; her husband Richard Dieckhoff; her siblings Mariel Johnson, Kathryn (Donald) Markofski, Carolyn (Dean) Duddeck (Mary), Vernon (Grace) Johnson, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sandra’s family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone involved with her home hospice care and AngelsGrace Hospice.
