Sara Ann McCall Lee Curry died on February 24, 2019 in Hilton Head, South Carolina. She was 93 years old. Sara Ann McCall was born on December 6, 1925, the daughter of Mary Stallworth McCall and Lloyd Terrence McCall, Sr

She grew up in Monroeville, Alabama and attended Huntingdon College and Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University), from which she graduated in 1947. While at API, she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. In 1954, Sara Ann moved to Auburn and became very involved in the Auburn community.

Sara Ann served as the first president of the Village Gardeners. She also served as the chairman of the Arts Department of the Women’s Club. She remained active with the ADII sorority at Auburn University and with the alumnae group.

Sara Ann was a member of P.E.O., for which she served as chapter president and as state president. And she was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames. Sara Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Auburn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Dr. Lloyd Terrence McCall, Jr. and Allen Law McCall; her first husband Major Edwin Coleman Lee; and her husband of 60 years, John Arthur Curry Jr. Sara Ann Curry is survived by her four children, Stella Curry Ivie (Russell), Mary McCall Lee, Edwin Coleman Lee and Martha Curry Reese and by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Auburn, Alabama on Friday, March 8, 2019, at 2:00pm, with reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Sara Ann to either the First Presbyterian Church of Auburn or to the East Alabama Food Bank.
