Sara Carol Thomas Woolley was born October 22, 1925, in Jonesboro, NC, the youngest of the eight children of Bert Watson Thomas and Lutie Geneva Poe Thomas. Carol attended schools in Jonesboro, Southern Pines and briefly, the Preparatory Department of the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland. She was a homemaker and did volunteer work in the church, schools and retirement homes as long as her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Woolley, and grandson, Matthew DeGregory. She is survived by three daughters: Clare Martin & husband, Brian of the home; Melissa Hilton of Winston-Salem; and Martha Hahn of Palm Coast, Florida. Her grandchildren are Jason Schnaare and wife, Tracey; Daniel Hilton Simonson & wife, Christine; Brianna Jensen & husband, Pete; and Derek DeGregory.

Great-grandchildren are Alyssa Schnaare, Dylan Schnaare, Charley Bright Beck, Atticus Simonson and Georgia Simonson; She also cherished a large number of nieces and nephews, predeceased and surviving. There will be an informal gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of Carol Thomas Woolley on Saturday, September 29 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Southern Pines, 200 East New York Avenue. Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to the First Baptist Church Retire the Debt Matching Gift Fund or a charity of your choice.
