Mrs.Sarah Ley, 98 of Quitman passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the Presbyterian Home Quitman. Mrs. Ley was born May 30, 1920 to the late Minor A. Sims and Clyde Sullivan Sims. She obtained a teaching degree from Georgia State Women’s College and taught school several years.

Mrs. Ley married William A. “Bill” Ley on August 1, 1948 and she & her husband, Bill co-owned and operated Ley’s Radio and TV. Together they raised four children and enjoyed nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Mrs. Ley became a widow on October 5, 1992, after being happily married for 44 years.

Survivors include her children, William O. “Billy” (Debra N.) Ley of Quitman, John A. (Debra S.) Ley of Quitman, Gregory S. (Cathy) Ley of Quitman, and Sara L. (Steven) Nichols of East Bend, NC. ; grandchildren, Annette Adams and her late husband, William O. “Butch” Adams, Stacey (Michael) Burton, Jeffery (Kristen) Ley, John (Catharyn) Ley, Jr., Kati (Alan) Mason, Justin (Stacy) Nichols, Andrea Nichols, Rachel (Scott) Rehberg, and Thomas (Lauren) Ley; great grandchildren, Lee Adams, Ryan Adams, Anna Leigh Burton, Tyler Burton, Kiersten Ley, Asa Ley, Kailin Ley, Kyleigh Ley, Laci Ley, Kaiden Mason, Ethan Gravely, Acadia Gravely, Zack Fowler, Cody Fowler, Justin Rehberg, Abigail Rehberg, Kinsey Ley, and Austin Ley; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ley was preceded in death by her husband, William A. “Bill” Ley; three brothers, William Sims, Jack Sims, and Berry Sims; and one sister, Jane Adams.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Quitman United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Roberson, and Rev. Jeffery Ley officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends two hours prior to the service from 1-3 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Quitman United Methodist Church.
