Herbert Alonzo Roam, age 85, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018. Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Scott’s Funeral Home of Copperas Cove with visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.

Herbert was born on November 23, 1933, in Webster Groves, MO, to the late Ted and Julia McCarty Roam. He joined the Army in 1950 and served 21 years including Korea, Vietnam, Germany, France, Okinawa, and Fort Leonard Wood. He was awarded a bronze star with 1st oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart, and a good conduct medal with clasp (7).

After his retirement, he continued to work hard providing for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Herbert is survived by his wife, Matsuko Roam, of 59 years, daughters: Rumiko, husband, David; Julia, husband Dave; Sandra; and Carol, husband Jim; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

His family was most precious to his heart. A close second was his love for hitting the road. Roam, a befitting name.
