Private services will be held at a later date. Mr. Barnes served in the United States Army 31 years and was also in the Vietnam and Korean wars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Barnes and Gladys Marie Griffin Barnes, five sisters, Mary Frances Crawford, Katherine Loraine Lancaster, Joan Maxine Groves, Jane Helen Clements and Norma Laura Rhyne.

Survivors include his wife, Maureen T. Barnes, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Kimberly Susan Yawn (Rodney) Clermont, FL; son, Stephen B. Deese (Sophia) Boston, MA; grandchildren, Russell Yawn; Kyle Yawn; sister, Hilda Marie Crawford; several special nieces and nephews.
