Shirley Arlene (Stanley) St. Hilaire, 72, of Lebanon, widow of the late James E. St. Hilaire, passed away Saturday (Jan. 26, 2019) at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She grew up in Wallingford and had worked as an accountant with Blue Cross/Blue Shield before her retirement.

Shirley was active and supportive, encouraging her children at their horse shows and sporting events growing up. Over the years, Shirley “fostered” (but ultimately adopted) countless less fortunate animals, especially dogs and horses. She leaves two children, James St. Hilaire and his fiancée, Allison Reidharr of Lebanon and Patty Maguire and her husband, Harlen of Gilsum, NH; and two sisters, Barbara and Doris.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at her home in Lebanon with a memorial planting this Spring and will be announced. CarIn lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington 06111. Care of arrangements has been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester.
