Obituary for Shirley E. French Andover, Ohio – Shirley Elizabeth French, age 84, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. She was born on January, 23, 1934, in Youngstown, Ohio a daughter of Mildred Frances (Bair) and Russell Glen Mock. Shirley was a 1951 graduate of Rayen High School of Youngstown and a 1956 graduate of Youngstown Hospital of Nursing.

On December 29, 1956 she married Myron D. “Mike” French. She was a registered nursing and Director of Nursing for the former Charlotte Village Nursing Home of Rock Creek, the Geneva Nursing Home, Heather Hill Nursing Center of Chardon, Ohio and retired from the former Miller’s Nursing Home of Andover. Shirley was a longtime Andover resident and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andover, where she was active in helping with the soup pantry’s weekly lunches.

She was also a member of the Covered Bridge Chapter No. 591 Order of Eastern Star in Rock Creek, Ohio. Shirley enjoyed playing Bridge and Penuchle as well as reading, shopping with QVC and cooking, knitting and drawing.

Most of all she loved to spend time with her family, and friends, enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-one years, Mike French; a sister, Nancy New and a brother, R. John Mock. Survivors include two daughters, Samantha L. (Greg) Brown of Bristolville, Ohio and Heidi E. French of Chardon, Ohio; a son, Mike R. French of Andover; three grandchildren, Adam (Allison) Brown of Rootstown, Jacob (Molly) Brown of Charolette, Michigan and Nick Brown of Westlake, Ohio and four great grandchildren, Benjamin, Noah, Hannah and Grace.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Sheryl McGann and Donna Bilek who went above and beyond. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Noon at the First United Methodist Church, 181 South Main Street, Andover, Ohio.
