Shirley L. Burke, 81, of Virginia, died Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Michael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia Shirley L. Burke, was born September 21, 1936 to Patrick and Leah LaPlant. She was raised and educated in Duluth with the love of her aunt Jenny Laurin. She was a longtime Eveleth and Virginia resident.

Her Christian Pentecostal faith was very important to her as she often read her bible daily. Shirley also loved sewing and cleaning. She is preceded in death by her parents, aunt and brother Dick LaPlant, and first husband Edwin Jacobson. A private graveside service will take place at Forbes Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home, Eveleth.
