Shirley Mary Parvin, (Trettel) Shirley Mary Parvin, (Trettel) 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 after a brief illness. Born on August 16th, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Robert V. Trettel and Lida (Brass) Trettel, she was the devoted wife of Harvey Parvin (deceased) for 70 years. Shirley was a resident of Cuyahoga Falls, attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great, great-grandmother.

She was one of the ladies (known as one of the “Rosie the Riveter”) who worked during WWII assembling B-29s for the defense industry and war cause. Employed by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P) for over 30 years, Shirley retired in 1978. After moving here with her family from Minneapolis, she graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School.

Sewing and traveling with her family were just a few of her passions in her free time. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey; her parents;and bothers, Mark, Robert and Tom, Shirley is survived by her loving children, son David Parvin; daughter, Gloria Settle,;sister ,Kathleen Johnson (Don); grandsons, Emerson Daniel (Sue) Settle, Jonathan (Mandy) Settle and great-grandsons Mark King and Nathan Settle. The family would like to recognize and express our deep gratitude for the dedicated care given to Shirley by her primary care physicians Dr. Michael Gedeon and Dr. Daniel Steidl.

Also a special “Thank you” to her home health care giver and companion during the last few years of her life, her dedicated daughter Gloria who carried out an outstanding act of love. Visitation hours will take place Tuesday, November 13th from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held the following morning November 14th at 10:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Tr.
