Shirley Miguez Hawthorne, 88, of Port Acres, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at Collier Park in Beaumont, Texas. She was born on October 18, 1929 in Port Arthur, Texas to Israel Miguez, Sr. and Mabel Sanders Miguez. Shirley was a lifelong area resident and member of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres.

She retired from the Port Arthur Independent School District as a teacher’s aide after 10 years of service. A visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 2808 Canal, Port Acres. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Bell officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, David “Chief” Hawthorne and son, David “Davey” Hawthorne, Jr She is survived by her daughter, Melody Chronistier and husband Don of Willis, TX.

, two sons, Jack Hawthorne of Tyler, TX. , and Lanny Hawthorne and wife Nicole of Beaumont, TX. , brother Ray Miguez and wife, Dean of Port Arthur, TX.

, eight grandchildren, Ken Williams, Greg Williams, Michael Williams and wife Amanda, Travis Hawthorne and wife Stephanie, Casey Hawthorne and husband Jason, Paul Hawthorne and wife Lauren, Amy Hawthorne and Kaley Sheffield and husband David and ten great grandchildren.
