Obituary for Shirley M. Munroe ASHBURNHAM- Shirley M. Munroe, 79, Died Friday, May 18th in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester . She was born in Keene, New Hampshire on January 14, 1939 , the daughter of the late Elmer Britton and the late Edith (Georgina) Britton. She grew up in Ashburnham, graduating from Murdock High School with the class of 1957.

After high school, Shirley attended the St. Vincent School of Nursing, in Worcester and was a licensed practical nurse for nearly 40 years. Throughout her career as a nurse, Shirley worked at Burbank Hospital and Hillcrest Nursing Home in Fitchburg as well as Naukeag Hospital in Ashburnham. She enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Shirley leaves two sons, Richard S., and his wife Laurie of Rindge, NH ; Douglas E. and his wife Kim of Lunenburg; One daughter, Deanne L. Castine of Gardner. Seven grandchildren, Nolan Munroe, Tanner Munroe, Nicci Munroe, Douglas Munroe Jr., Kameron Munroe, Cody Castine and Dakota Castine. She also leaves 2 great- grandchildren; Landon and Maddox Munroe.

She was predeased by her husband Peter, in August 1986. Also her sister ; Ruth Wornham. Graveside services will be private at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery , Ashburnham.
