Mr. Shornden Glen McCloud, 45, of Walterboro, a loving husband and father, passed away suddenly Saturday afternoon, February 16, 2019, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Carolina. He was born March 9, 1973 at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. He graduated as Salutatorian from Camden County High School, St. Mary’s, Georgia, in 1991.

He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1996 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi, Alpha Gamma Chapter. He went right to Law School, graduating from the Georgia State School of Law in 1999.

He married his high school sweetheart, Dawn Phillips-Call on August 12, 1994 on Amelia Island, Florida. They have six amazing children; Savannah Brooke-19, Shornden Preston-17, Colton Anthony-14, Katelyn Sandra-12, Christian Harris-10 and MaKenna Grace-7. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his parents, Shornden and Connie McCloud, of Brunswick, Georgia; sister, Carly Honea, husband Ryan and their children Gannon, Asher and Addison, of Summerville, South Carolina; his in-laws, Robert and Carolanne Call; and numerous other uncles, aunts , cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Sandra Sue Call. Shornden was very involved in sports growing up and loved being a part of his children’s school and sports activities. He was a lifelong fan of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

He also enjoyed outdoor adventures; summiting Mt. Rainer in 2005, kayaking around Prince William Sound, Alaska in 2011 and hiking many miles of the Appalachian Trail. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to an organization that was very dear to Shornden’s heart: Appalachian Trail Conservancy, 799 Washington Street, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia 25425; or donate at: www.

appalachiantrail.org. Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon, February 23, 2019, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony until 5 o’clock that afternoon.
