Signa “Becky” Elizabeth Altenburg, 83, of South Haven passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born February 8, 1936 to Roy and Mildred (Metcalf) Watkin in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

Becky married Daniel Altenburg on December 26, 1953 at Kendall United Methodist Church in Kendall, Michigan. She was a talented seamstress and loved to garden. Becky enjoyed reading, playing scrabble, coloring, and keeping up with friends on Facebook.

She was most proud of her children and grandchildren, often saying that they were her greatest accomplishment. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings – Jane Smith, Nancy Barber, Vera Heintzman, Albert Watkin, David Watkin and James Watkin. And two grandchildren, Bradley Scott Levoy and Eric Paul Heisler.

Becky is survived by her husband, Daniel Altenburg; Children – Shelley (Jeff) Hollis and Tracey (Pete Noirot) Altenburg both of South Haven, Phillip Altenburg of Sodus and Lisa Nahin of Byron Center. Three Grandchildren – Bryan (Caitlin) Heisler, Rebecca Nahin, and Erin (Ryan) O’Neil. Four great grandchildren – Ella, Clay, Emma and James.

One sister also survives, Dixie Janke of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Becky’s honor to the American Diabetes Association at 2451Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
