Sister Mary was born February 21, 1935 in Scotland. She passed away October 14, 2018. Visitation will begin at 1pm Wednesday, October 17 at Queen of Peace, 24955 N U.S. Hwy 12, Lake Zurich.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am, Thursday, October 18 at the Chapel at Mount Saint Joseph, followed by burial in the Mount St. Joseph Cemetery. Sister Mary entered the convent in June, 1952. She received her teaching degree from Rosary College in Chicago and her master’s degree in Rome.

Sister Mary did missionary work in Canada, the Philippines, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Illinois. She was a proud sister in the order of Daughter’s of St. Mary’s of Providence. Sr. Mary is survived by her sister, Olive (Donald) VanDeWalle; and nieces and nephews, Deborah Hanahan, William Whyte, Carolyn Pitzaferro, Andrew Sheber, and Laura Kuszak.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Davina Whyte; and brother William G. Whyte.
