Stanley Ed Pivik November 27, 1926 – February 15, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Stanley Ed Pivik known by his large and loving family as “Uncle Stan”, 92, who passed away on February 15, 2019 in Casper, Wyoming. Stan was born November 27, 1926 in Hudson, Wyoming; son of Joe H. Pivik and Mary Pivik. Stan was raised in Rock Springs, Wyoming and graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1944.

At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Navy, served his tour of duty from 1944-1946, and was honorably discharged. Stan was honored to serve his country as a Navy Seaman. When Stan returned to Rock Springs, after the war he took a job with Mountain Fuel, which eventually became Questar Corporation.

Stan’s first and last job was with Questar, where he worked in construction for 42 years. Stan traveled to Ribnica and Logatec, Slovenia to connect with relatives and learn about his Slovenian heritage. He enjoyed attending and watching Wyoming Cowboy football and basketball games throughout his life, including a memorable trip to New Orleans to cheer on the Cowboys in the Sugar Bowl.

He also traveled to New York when the Cowboys made the finals at the National Invitation Tournament. There were many annual trips with extended family to a number of destinations. Stan was proud of his Slovenian heritage and to be from the great state of Wyoming.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Arlene Pivik; one brother, Joe Pivik. Stan will be deeply missed by his sister, Pauline “Polly” Taubert; nephews, Kurt Taubert, Louis Taubert (Kelly), and Robert Taubert (Teresa), and nieces, Carlene Taubert (Mark Parker), Anita Taubert (Bob Turnbull), Frieda Sue Taubert (Mike Huber), Cindy Cheney (Tom), and Pam McGarvey (John Fantin); and many great and great-great special nieces and nephews. There was nothing so important to Uncle Stan than his family, and he showed it constantly with his kindness and generosity.

Cremation has taken place and graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.
