Obituary of Stella Lahm Stella Bernice Lahm, 93, of Derry Township, formerly of Ohio, died on October 31, 2018. She was born in Franklin, Ohio, on October 2, 1925, to Garfield and Ada (Breeden) Landers. Bernie, as she was known to family and friends, came to Dayton after graduating from Franklin High.

She attended Miami-Jacobs Business College and worked at Frigidaire. One evening on a YMCA dance floor, she met Joe Lahm, and they married in 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were married for 50 years and had two children, Diana and Joe Jr. While raising a family, Bernie also worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Rike’s Department Store.

A life-long lover of music, she loved playing piano and organ and was a member of the St. Paul bell choir. She was also passionate about ballroom dancing, which she and Joe enjoyed throughout their life together. After he passed away, she took up competitive ballroom dance, attending events across the country.

She hung up her dancing shoes at age 80, after participating in a competition in Venice, Italy. Bernie was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and her sisters, Anna Florence Heil and Marjorie Evelyn Farkas. In addition to her children, Bernie is survived by her daughters-in-law Elaine and Denise; grandchildren Erin, Adam, and Eric; great grandchildren Harper, Henry, and Ethan; 11 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday November 5, 2018 at Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home, 1632 Wayne Ave. , Dayton. Visitation was from noon until 2:00 with the service to follow.

Interment was at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, 1661 Nicholas Rd. , Dayton 45417, or a favorite charity.

The Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc. assisted the family with local arrangements.
