Obituary for Stephan A. Goynes Jr. Stephan ‘Steve’ A. Goynes Jr. North Charleston, SC – Steve passed away from complications caused by bladder cancer on February 17, 2018. He was born on December 17, 1962 to Betty Joyce (Casey) Goynes and the late Stephan A. Goynes. During and after graduating High School, Steve worked for the Goliad County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher, with the Goliad EMS, and for Doug Mundine Construction Co. Steve then served in the United States Marine Corps for five years and attained the rank of Sergeant (Sgt.

). Following his time in the Corps, he attended Hallmark Technical School in San Antonio TX. Steve completed the Victoria Texas Police Academy and once again worked for the Goliad County Sheriff’s Dept.

as a Jailer and Reserve Deputy. Steve served in the Border Patrol and was stationed in Laredo TX and Douglas AZ. Prior to his diagnosis with bladder cancer, he worked offshore and for the oil field as a pipe fitter and instrumentation specialist.

Steve is survived by his mother, Betty J (Casey) Goynes; sister, Brenda J (Goynes/Davis) Ashton; niece, Gina L (Davis) Bell; grandniece Magdalynn ‘Maggie’ J Bell. The rosary will be held on May 26th at 9:30am prior to the 10:00am funeral mass at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goliad Texas. Father Charles E. Otsiwa will officiate the service and the graveside service.

The graveside service is being held on May 26th at 1:00pm at the Gussettville Cemetery in George West Texas, Live Oak County. At 4:00pm, a barbecue is being held by family and friends in the Julie Wimberly Bldg at the Goliad Fairgrounds to celebrate Steve’s life. Services entrusted to Roberson Funeral Home.
