Stephen Jay Green, age 66, died Monday, March 4, 2019, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born in Salem, IN on September 17, 1952, to John and Phyllis (Grossman) Green. Stephen attended elementary and junior high in Salem after which he enrolled and graduated in 1971 from Florida Central Academy, Mt.

Plymouth, FL. After high school he attended and obtained a degree from Rollins College, Winter Park, FL. During his college years, Stephen worked at Walt Disney World.

Moving to Louisville, KY, he spent over 25 years working in Children Treatment Services and the Bingham Unit at Central State Hospital until his retirement. Stephen was a member of the United Methodist Church. He loved music, antiquing, landscaping, gardening and adopting rescue animals.

He was especially fond of his latest rescue, a cat named Hank. Stephen had a very sweet spirit and was a wonderful friend to everyone with whom he came in contact. Survivors are his mother and step-father, Phyllis Green Massey and Robert Massey, Salem; his brother, David Green, Honolulu, HI; and best friend, John Zaepfel, Louisville, KY.

Arrangements are being handled by Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. , Louisville, KY. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, March 8 from 2-8 p.m. The funeral will be at Highlands on Saturday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.
